As the EFS covers incremental fuel costs within Hapag-Lloyd-operated services, these additional third-party cost increases require a separate surcharge. \u003C/p>\u003Cp>We will therefore introduce the Emergency Fuel Origin/Destination Charge (EFO/EFD/XLM/XXL), applicable on relevant Inland Moves on all Trades, to address the operational costs related to third-party operated services.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>The surcharge will be applied as follows:\u003C/p>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>EFO (Origin): Emergency Fuel Origin\u003C/li>\u003Cli>EFD (Destination): Emergency Fuel Destination\u003C/li>\u003C/ul>\u003Cp>For Off B/L in Mainland China:\u003C/p>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>XLM (Origin): Emergency Inland Fuel Origin\u003C/li>\u003Cli>XXL (Destination): Emergency Inland Fuel Destination\u003C/li>\u003C/ul>\u003Cp>The applicable surcharge level is as follows:\u003C/p>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>Per TEU: USD 10\u003C/li>\u003C/ul>\u003Cp>Valid for all export and import shipments in Asian locations, except for Taiwan (China), Australia and New Zealand. \u003Ca href=\"https://www.hapag-lloyd.cn/zh/services-information/offices-localinfo/local-news/2026/04/australia--new-zealand--introduction-of-emergency-fuel-surcharge.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">A separate customer advisory is available for these locations.\u003C/a> Meanwhile, the surcharge for Mainland China, Hong Kong & Macau is limited to Truck, Rail and combined Truck & Rail (Combined Rail).\u003C/p>\u003Cp>This surcharge will apply for non-FMC regulated trades with tariffing date on or after May 15, 2026. For FMC-regulated trades, the surcharge will be effective June 14, 2026. The charge will be applied to all container types and will be payable by the sea freight payer.
