Due to ongoing cost developments, fuel prices have increased significantly, impacting feeder operations provided by third-party service providers.
In addition to the previously announced Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS), we are now facing bunker cost increases from our third-party feeder operators. As EFS covers incremental fuel costs within Hapag-Lloyd-operated services, these additional third-party cost increases require a separate surcharge.
We will therefore introduce the Emergency Operations Charge (EOO/EOD) applicable on all Trades, to address the operational costs related to third-party feeder services in Asia & Oceania.
The surcharge will be applied as follows:
- EOO – Emergency Operations Charge at Origin
- EOD – Emergency Operations Charge at Destination
Please find below the affected locations (shipments from and to) and applicable surcharge below (all values in USD):

** Mainland China: Applies only to import shipments discharging directly at mentioned ports. Domestic China feeder moves are excluded. All other listed countries apply for shipments from and to the respective country.
This surcharge will apply for non-FMC regulated trades with tariffing date on or after May 15, 2026. For FMC-regulated trades, the surcharge will be effective June 9, 2026. The charge applies to all container types and is payable by the sea freight payer. This adjustment reflects operational cost increases charged by third-party feeder operators.
If you have any questions regarding these updates or their impact on your supply chain, please contact your local Hapag-Lloyd representative.
